Blog 101: Rebooting, Version 2

Welcome to my 101 Blog.

Wish you and your family, a Happy, Prosperous, Healthy and Wealthy New Year 2024.

Welcome back! Following a 3.5-month hiatus after my 100th blog, life presented numerous personal challenges. This period was marked by emotional and financial pressures. There was also ample time to reflect on my past and future plans. Thus, it was an opportunity to reevaluate various aspects of my life. One significant aspect was reconsidering my decision to halt blogging. Today, I’m thrilled to declare my decision to resume blogging.

In this blog, I’ll delve into the reasons behind this decision, provide insights into what to expect, and outline what not to anticipate in my new blogging Avatar.

Hi, This is Venkatesh. I write on Personal Finance, Stock Investing, Productivity and Time Management. You will be interested to read more about me and the purpose of my website.

If you are interested in these topics do subscribe to my blogs. You would maximum receive 4 to 5 emails a month. Do check my Blog Index for all my blogs.

What is the reason for the change?

To understand why I initially ceased blogging, please refer to my previous (My 100th) blog for a comprehensive insight.

Now, what factors led to reconsidering this decision?

  1. Reader Engagement: Despite a modest readership, some individuals found value in my content, leading to subscriptions and encouraging me to persist in sharing insights.
  2. Personal Interactions: Over the past 15 years, I’ve engaged in numerous discussions on topics like Personal Finance, Health Insurance, and Term Insurance with friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors. Recognizing the broader relevance of these discussions, I aim to share these valuable insights through my blog. Additionally, instead of repeatedly engaging in similar discussions, I can direct individuals in my circle to specific blog posts thus saving my time.

What will I cover in my future Blogs?

In this new avatar (Let me call it Version 2.0!),

  • Usually, I have regular discussions with friends, colleagues, and neighbours, primarily focusing on Personal Finance. It is a joint exercise, where we make notes with some action plans and so on. My future blogs will be fuelled by insights and pointers from these discussions as it has broader relevance to a wider range of audiences.
  • Additionally, I’ll cover topics that I find compelling for a broader audience, drawing on my experiences and learnings.
  • Finally brace yourself for an expanded content horizon beyond stock markets and personal finance. I have travelled a lot in the past and will do so in future. So, I’ll introduce a dedicated travel log section, covering pictures, my experiences and details about those places.

Stay tuned for an enriched and diverse content experience!

What will this Version 2.0 not have?

The blogs would not cover,

  • Dedicated topics or blog series aimed solely at active teaching/learnings. This is because of acknowledging the fact that the audience is not be inclined towards such “active learning” or may have limited attention spans to read in-depth analysis/content. (Inference based on my initial 100 blogs!)
  • Thus you may not find heavy topics like understanding an industry (similar to the Diagnostics Industry study, Power Sector study etc done in the past) or Fundamental analysis.
  • This means lighter content akin to a Tweet thread, devoid of heavy images that explain complex ideas. The blog theme will embrace simplicity, offering easily digestible content without the need for extensive visual aids.

What I do not intend to do?

Not to Tweet the Blogs

I won’t be tweeting these blogs as I’ve done in the past.

  • The primary reason is that these blogs are intended for existing subscribers and my circle of friends, colleagues, and relatives.
  • Another factor is that blogs though shared via tweets also didn’t generate significant engagement.

Given the above, I’m discontinuing the practice of tweeting blogs. However, I may do so, if the blog contents need to reach a wider audience, due to the significance of the topic or some social importance in the topic.

Not focussing on Engagements

  • In the past, I heavily formatted content for higher SEO (Search Engine Optimization) scores to improve visibility in “Search engine” searches.
  • However, I won’t be focusing on this aspect as much.
  • As said earlier the future blogs are meant for subscribers and my immediate circle, prioritizing content quality over increasing engagement or subscribers.

If you enjoy the content, share these blogs with your network through WhatsApp or similar messenger systems. I value your support more than higher SEO Score.

Set to Run, But will review this decision

I have decided to start blogging. However, will review this decision as well… after 50 or 100 blogs. Thanks for all your support.
